"Never leave home without your GSP."

~ IMPORTANT NOTE ~
We would like to clarify that we are not affiliated or partnered with any other kennels or clubs. If you are interested in any of our dogs, please don't hesitate to contact us via text. We're happy to answer any questions you may have and provide more information. Thank you for visiting!

“Our mission is to provide healthy, loving, and well-socialized GSPs with excellent dispositions that can perform to high expectations.”

TRAINING & BOARDING
SPECIFICATIONS

If interested in boarding at our kennels, please schedule in advance. We are now requiring shot records no later than the time of drop-off. All vaccinations must be up to date and must include the kennel cough vaccination.

I understand that I will be leaving my dog for training and that Arsenio Urbina, the trainer, is not responsible for injury, death, or loss of the dog.

The dog will be highly cared for and will be fed Diamond Pet Food unless otherwise specified and agreed upon.

If needed, my dog will be given medication that is prescribed by my veterinarian. Arsenio Urbina has the right to bring my dog to his veterinarian if he thinks it is necessary, and I understand that it will be at my expense. (If you, the dog owner, wish heartworm medication to be given, it needs to be in a monthly chewable dose [i.e., Heartgard].)

Daily Boarding Fee:
$40/day
Basic Obedience: $2,000 (four weeks)
Bird Training: $2,000 (four weeks)
Plus the cost of birds if needed.

When leaving my dog at Heritage GSP Kennels, these guidelines WILL be followed:
1)   I will arrive at my scheduled time as others’ appointments and training sessions are scheduled around my appointment. (Most importantly, all appointments are scheduled for the optimum and safest work time, as the heat of the day can affect both the dog’s performance and health.)
2)   If I am not able to attend my appointment, I am responsible for calling no less than an hour before my appointment.
3)   My dog/dogs must be on a leash when out of my car.

Some dogs can accept a great deal of training in 30 days, while others are just getting started. The average adult dog needs 6 months of intensive training to be a proficient gun dog. If I leave my dog for less time, I do not expect a fully trained dog. Obedience training may take less time, dependent upon what I, the owner, expect to get done and upon how diligent I am with the follow-up at home.

When I come to pick up my dog, I will expect to spend the time the trainer feels is necessary for me to learn the techniques that my dog and the trainer have used. This is so that I will have the skills to follow through on the training.

Dog Training Requirements

To ensure a safe and healthy environment for all our furry clients, we require the following documentation before your dog’s training sessions:

1. Shot Records:
Up-to-date vaccinations are essential. Please provide proof of all standard vaccinations, including but not limited to:
  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Parvovirus
2. Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccination:
  • A current Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccination is mandatory to prevent the spread of this common respiratory infection.
3. Proof of recent stool sample – proving negative on worms or internal parasites is needed.

Important:
  • Documentation must be submitted prior to drop off for your dog’s training session.
  • Ensure that all vaccinations are administered and recorded by a licensed veterinarian.

How to Submit Your Records:
  • Email: [email protected]
  • In-Person

There will be a specified fee plus the cost of a veterinary visit surcharge if your dog tests positive for parasites once it is at Heritage GSP Kennels. This charge only partially covers the time and inconvenience of a veterinary visit and the possible contamination of the facility.

Heritage GSP Kennels — Obedience Commands

At Heritage GSP Kennels, each dog is trained using consistent commands to develop clear communication and reliable behavior.
Below are the obedience commands taught during our two-month program:

1. Name: The dog will learn to listen and respond when called by name.
2. Here: Recall command—dog returns to you immediately, straight to the 12 o’clock position.
3. Sit: The dog sits and remains in place until released; sit also implies stay.
4. Kennel: To enter or remain inside the kennel.
5. Let’s Go: To follow and move in the direction you are traveling.
6. Up, Up, Up: To load into a vehicle or step onto a higher surface.

The following commands (#7 and #8) are introduced after the first month of training:

7. Behave: To stop any unwanted behavior immediately.
8. Heel: To walk calmly on the left side while on leash.

To graduate from Heritage GSP Kennels, each dog must successfully complete the two-month obedience program, demonstrating consistency, responsiveness, and focus under all training conditions.
